Ozzy & Me...

This is a really tough blog to write. I feel like somewhat of a failure and heartsick at the same time. Not a fun combo. I finally had to admit Ozzy was just too much for me. He has destroyed more of my backyard than I care to talk about and did indeed rid my house of all silk or plastic greenery...and about 3 blankets and an undetermined amount of beach towels. All the while, scaring poor Divot to death and it got so bad Divot would not (of his own accord) go out back for anything. Here is a photo of the trampoline a few days before he left and just before he got ALL of the foam covering the metal stands ripped off. Besides more of the skirting around the top flat part of it! On the right ground area is the enclosure he ripped off on Christmas Day...right along with the poles that held it onto the top of the tramp!! Amazing, huh, that a dog could do that??

So, one day last week, I put an ad on ksl.com and within 60 seconds I got the first call. Amazing! That lady came to see him, but her son was too afraid of him. I wouldn't have given him to her...I could see trouble there. All day I got about 9 or 10 calls about him. At 6:00 that evening, Ozzy was on his way to Logan to what I think is a perfect family! The husband knows how to train dogs, they live on a farm and they have 3 (6-16) kids and another Golden Retriever. They have e-mailed me twice telling me how happy they are and how much they love Ozzy. I think they knew how hard it was for me, so I appreciated them letting me know it was the right choice.

Life is much less hectic now. The house smells better. Divot is coming out of his "shell" and will now go out back. Once the snow melts (if ever!) I will have to assess what the real damage is to the yard, deck, wires, pipes and tubes in back. THAT should be interesting. I do feel really bad, but I just couldn't handle him and was not confident in trying.

On a better note...I had Bruce take a couple of pictures of how long my hair has gotten now. Of course, I had it straightened for the weekend and it doesn't look this long when it is curly, but I love the feeling of straight hair!! I have never had hair this long...it is so fun!

Now I just need to get back into the cleaning and re-organizing of my house! Bruce can't figure out why I keep doing the same projects over & over again...honestly, I can't either, but I just know it needs to be done. Spence calls me a pack-rat...I need to lose that reputation!! Maybe that can be my resolution...to lose the reputation. Yeah, right!
Just a side note--according to this blog, I read 42 books this past year, although I am sure I have forgotten to add some of them! I am starting again. I think it is fun to keep track!!

I like the long and straight hair!! I'm not a dog person anymore. We had one growing up that I adored, but not only am I allergic to them now (in a really bad way), but I can't clean up after and take care of another living thing!!!!! Whew. Glad I got that off my chest ;). Sorry your sad though.

Sorry you have to give up Ozzy. We had a dog that liked to destroy things too. He eventually learned that if he slammed against the fence hard enough he could break right through and get out when ever he wanted. We finally had to say goodbye to him too. It was sad.
Your hair is so long! It looks good :)

Jadyn is shocked at your hair!

Jadyn came out crying when she found out you gave Ozzy away cause he was fun to make "sit" and stuff. Kai may never speak to you again.

Yeah, good luck living that reputation down. He's not the only that calls you a pack rat!

Sorry you had to give up Ozzy. We have thought about giving up princess a few times. (she kept digging through to the neighbors yard, then went under the house, to the neighbors yard, and then when we tied her up, she broke the leash, and the metal chain/rope thing we bought for her that was supposed to withstand "monster dogs")needless to say, it wore out our patience. Good thing she is starting to calm down a little, and the kids absolutely adore her. Especially Gaven and Charlie!! anyway, love your hair!! and we will have to make out to see you guys soon!!

I can totally relate we gave a really great dog when Harlan was a baby because I decided a new baby and a puppy were not a good combination i just couldn't give him the attention she needed. Also when Emery was a week old Jared brought home a dachsund wich the kids loved but he was not house trained and could not be an indoor dog and that I decided was too much for me to handle with a new baby and two other little kids. I felt bad but you have to look out for your best interests

That is wild, what he did to your trampoline! I'm sure everybody is a lot happier. Hopefully that family can keep him busy! Bridget says you should've brought him back here. Ha! Are you going to keep growing your hair?

I am sorry that you had to give him up. But sometimes, things just work out for the best in ways we don't expect! Now he can go and chew up their farm eh?
BTW, I love your long straight hair. It looks great!
