I arrived in St. George on Nov. 5th by airplane to get here a little early to help with preps for the birthday party. Jadyn hadn't had a normal temp for a couple of days, so Sarah decided to take her to the doctor just to make sure we could still have the party on Saturday with a healthy girl!! Lo and behold, she was diagnosed with the swine flu...H1N1. Life switched gears around here pretty fast!!
They gave her the dreaded Tamiflu and a warning to not be around anyone else. The rest of us were in lockdown mode...except Jake, who had to go to work. I called and talked to my doc and he said to stay here for a week to make sure I didn't come down with it and bring it home to healthy people. Luckily, it was Friday and Kai only missed 1 day of school. All this week was SEP's and he didn't have class at all for the first 2 days of the week! He even let me snuggle a time or 2!!
OK...I know I don't look too excited here...I really was having fun watching Jadyn open her presents...it was just very early for me!!
The really hard part was that we had to cancel the party. She cried, but was ok after we explained that we didn't want her friends to get sick, too. We stayed pretty close to home for several days, other than the occassional trip to the store.
As the week wore on, we ventured out more because none of the rest of us got sick and Jadyn never really acted like she was sick! We went ahead and planned the party for THIS Saturday and have been making preps for that. We have also played alot of games with the kids...Jadyn is the queen (princess?) of the card game Speed...she is SO good!! Most of the time she admits to me, "I let you win!!" Great...
This is Mrs. Manning, Jadyn's teacher on the bus for the field trip.
Snow Canyon did a great job with "Willy Wonka"!!
My birthday I had a special date with Jadyn to the HS production of "Willy Wonka". The other 18 kids in her class decided to tag along with us, too!! When we got home, I had a chance to call ppl back who had called me during the play with birthday wishes and then there was Facebook!! Answering everyone's good wishes took me quite a bit of the afternoon, but I sure loved hearing from so many of my friends and family! I did miss being home with my hubby, Spence & Mara and all my friends, but I loved being here, too!
For dinner, Sarah, Jadyn and I went to The Olive Garden! I love pasta, so I appreciate them taking me for a fun "girls night! We had a silly time!! Kai wasn't feeling up to going out and needed some Daddy time, so he & Jake enjoyed some fun as well. Jadyn was so excited to have them sing to us. When we got home we had cake & ice cream!! Sarah made my birthday cherry chip cake...that has been my cake (or an angel food cake with cherry chip frosting!) since I was a little girl. I think that is about the only time I ever eat it!! It was so YUMMY!
Kai was NOT thrilled with all the picture taking!
Then I was up till 3 reading more bday wishes and looking up old friends on Facebook! The cool thing about that was that I found a bunch of my friends from Jr high and requested to be friends!! I am so excited to see if I can find 2 of my very best friends from that time!!Tonight is the night that Bruce, Spence & Mara will be coming to get me! We'll have the "Rock Star Karaoke Party" for Jadyn tomorrow and I know that will be so much fun! Then, I am heading home. Lots to do next week!!
It's been a great 10 days, but I guess it's back to reality soon!!!

Ah, reality. I just want a normal schedule! We have loved having you and are glad that others let you come down. Thanks for all the fun!!
You make it sound like a really fun time. Hope it was - I'm sure the little ones loved having you for that long. Hope reality doesn't hit too hard.
